I've spent 20 years trying, testing and applying myself to a myriad of different "opportunities" that were all supposed to help make me rich. Some were ...

The lure is simply that, a piece of equipment designed to "lure" in a fish. A lure is an artificial bait that comes in many forms and colors. Some are bright like a rainbow while other colors and patterns tend to blend in with the surrounding water environment.
For a novice this can become a little confusing. Here is a suggestion: The first step would be to look at the fish you are targeting to catch whether it be bass, trout or flounder, and then chose a lure that mimics displays the same characteristics of their natural prey.
As you gain some experience and skill you could then experiment and try out other lures that seem to be effective. Of course one of the most enjoyable methods to do this is by swapping stories with other fishermen. Discussing and talking about what worked for you and what type of lure worked for someone is can be a extremely effective way to improve your fishing results.
Fishing lures can be broken down into several categories, styles and types. This web site will provide a simplified explanation of some of the more popular lures along with some gallery pages with interesting fishing lure pictures. Remember, when everything else is going wrong...Take some time off and go Fish!
Casting Spoons - Every fishing enthusiast knows their fishing tackle arsenal isn't complete without the tried-n-true casting spoon. Effective for Salmon, Musky, Pike, Lake Trout, and Walleye, your spoons will be crafted from stainless steel, nickel, or marine brass, then treated with a primer coat and baked in high temperature ovens.
Spinners - Somewhat similar to spoons are the spinners which revolve on a wire shaft or a swivel. They are also very effective lures for many fresh and salt water fish. A good angler will always carry a good assortment of spinners because of their effectiveness. Spinners get their name from how it rotates on a spindle when it returns to the fisher and the base of the fishing rod. This fishing lure is a blade that gives off light flashes so that the user can detect where it is.
Fishing lures are usually created to look like something that a fish wants to feed on. You tie a lure to the end of your fishing line and cast it into the water repeatedly until a fish, hopefully, bites it. Fishing lures are available in a near endless array of styles, colors, sizes, and types. The main purpose of any type of fishing lure is to attract fish, but the type of fishing lure a fisherman chooses might be based on previous experience, personal preference, or another's suggestion. Fishing lures are used to bait fish. Depending on the type of fish you want to catch, you will need the right lure.
